DAN AUSTIN is a filmmaker and writer based in New York City. His documentary of one of his road trips, titled True Fans, has screened in over 150 cities in North America and 16 film festivals. It was the People's Choice Award winner at the Banff Mountain Film Festival (in 1999). He recently directed a film about street kids in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, worked on a feature-length documentary with Angelina Jolie, produced film projects in Iceland and Paraguay, and finished the final installment in his True Fans film trilogy (True Fans Forever). The book version of True Fans: A Basketball Odyssey was published in 2005 (Lyons/Globe Pequot, ISBN 1592287794) and has sold about 7,500 copies. A paper edition is scheduled for January 2007, and the story is currently being developed as a Broadway musical.
