Janet Atwill is Associate Professor of English at the University of Tennessee, where she teaches courses in writing, critical theory, and rhetorical history and theory. She is currently working with faculty across the university in developing service learning and cultural studies programs. Her research focuses on rhetoric as an art of intervention and invention. Professor Atwill is the author of Rhetoric Reclaimed: Aristotle and the Liberal Arts Tradition. James A. W. Heffernan, Professor of English and Professor in the Art of Writing at Dartmouth College, has published extensively on English Romantic poetry and on the relation between literature and visual art.
