Flocculation in Biotechnology and Separation Systems

This book presents the edited proceedings of an international symposium where researchers reported the latest discoveries, developments toward commercial practice, and state-of-the-art reviews of flocculation. Nearly half of the book deals with the fundamental aspects of general and selective flocculation, while the other half deals with the applications of flocculation in various fields such as biotechnology and biomedical processes, coal and mineral processing, effluent treatment and environmental control, and other separation systems. Sixty-six papers from eleven countries were presented at the symposium by representatives from industry, university, private and governmental research and consulting organizations. Fifty-four papers are included in this book. All papers were subjected to peer review and were revised as needed. The book will be of particular interest and benefit to researchers, graduate students, and all persons involved in biotechnology, separation and processing of colloidal systems, environmental protection, energy conservation, and investors in industry and new technology.
