Description
This is the first volume in a series dealing with health hazards in the work area. In particular, this book covers hazardous substances in biological materials as, in the EC, biological monitoring is accorded great importance in preventing chemically caused occupational diseases. Almost 30 years ago, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft created the Commission for the Investigation of Health Hazards of Chemical Compounds in the Work Area. By specificating and justifying maximum permissible concentrations of hazardous substances in the work area, the Commission was carrying out a tradition begun by toxicologists in the Federal Republic of Germany of setting limits (MAK values).
