Description
This is a topic-based resource that covers various kinds of writing and is designed to enable children to work towards the Attainment Targets demanded by National Curriculum English at Key Stage 1, Levels 1 to 3. It contains photocopiable worksheets and teacher's notes on developing writing. The activities in the book aim to enable children to use pictures, symbols or isolated letters, words or phrases to communicate meaning; independently to produce pieces of writing using complete sentences, some of them demarcated with capital letters and full stops or question marks; to structure sequences of real or imagined events coherently in chronological accounts; to write stories showing an understanding of the rudiments of story structure by establishing an opening, characters and one or more events; and to produce simple coherent non-chronological writing.
