Description
US American landscape designer Kathryn Gustafson has earned an outstanding international reputation. The recently opened Diana Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park, London, is the latest in a long list of acclaimed projects realised together with her partners Gustafson Porter (London) and Gustafson Guthrie Nichol (Seattle), including the Arthur Ross Terrace of the American Museum of Natural History (New York), Chicago's New Millenium Garden, the Great Glass House interior (Wales), the Amsterdam Westergasfabriek park and the Garden of Forgiveness in Beirut.
The 30 international projects portrayed in Moving Horizons exemplify Gustafson's distinctive and highly artistic style, characterised by sensual, sculptural forms, and her cooperation with architects such as Norman Foster, Ian Ritchie, Mecanoo, Jean-Paul Viguier and Renzo Piano.
Recognition of the significance of her work has also come in the form of numerous awards, including the Chrysler Design Award, and selection for New York MoMA's forthcomingexhibition "Groundswell. Constructing the Contemporary Landscape".
