I was in total denial. I thought my strategy of refining my model-beautiful looks, raw musical talent, marketing and promotions prowess, and obtaining my Masters degree would allow me to escape the truth of my condition. I continually moved these low-ranking pieces of worldly stature around the board of my life, thinking things would change - that my condition would go away. I was on a losing streak. It wasn't until I started journaling and working deliberately to strengthen my relationship with God that the pieces of life started to move in a coordinated strategy designed to win.
