His most recent book (coedited with Arthur Caplan, Linda Emanuel, and Stephen Latham) is The American Medical Ethics Revolution: How the AMA's Code of Ethics Has Transformed Physicians' Relationships to Patients, Professionals and Society (Johns Hopkins University Press, 1999).
