Description
One holiday home swap. Two love stories.
Ramona Tucker's mother throws the best Christmas Eve parties, but this year, Ramona would rather be anywhere else. No one knows her wedding's been called off and she's desperate to avoid her family's questions.
Two thousand miles away, Chelsea Flint is facing her own crisis. Once a rising star in LA's art scene, she's lost her creative spark, and now her late parents' beach-side cottage is on the line.
When a chance opportunity leads Ramona and Chelsea to swap homes for the holidays, their Christmas plans take a surprising turn. In Malibu, Ramona finds herself drawn to an intriguing, sun-soaked fitness instructor who seems to understand her better than she does herself. Meanwhile in snowy Chicago, Chelsea's quiet retreat is interrupted by a surprise visitor: Ramona's roguishly handsome friend, Carlos, whose carefree charm might just be hiding something deeper.
As sparks fly on opposite sides of the country, both women realise that the greatest gift you can give yourself is to become the leading lady of your own life - and maybe even open your heart to love when you least expect it...

Jayne Allen is the pen name of Jaunique Sealey. Black Girls Must Die Exhausted is her first novel which she calls 'the epitaph of my 30s.' Drawing from her unique experiences as an attorney and entrepreneur, she crafts transcultural stories that touch upon contemporary women's issues such as workplace and career dynamics, race, fertility, modern relationships and mental-health awareness. Her writing echoes her desire to bring both multiculturalism and multidimensionality to a rich and colorful cast of characters inspired by the magic uncovered in everyday life. A graduate of Duke University and Harvard Law School, she is an avid traveler, speaks three languages, and has visited five continents.
