Reading 2000: Dick Whittington Level 5, Playscripts

Reading 2000 is a varied five level language development programme for the junior and early middle school years. Listening, speaking, reading and writing are closely interwoven and activities relating to these aspects of language have been integrated into each level of the programme. The components at each level include core readers, copymasters, topic readers, book study guides, teacher's guide, partners and playscripts. Together these provide an organized and systematic approach to covering the National Curriculum and Scottish Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study for English whilst at the same time allowing teachers to use their expertise and knowledge of individual children. The playscripts are collections of plays which aim to provide a meaningful and stimulating context for reading aloud as well as opportunities for drama and activities related to the production of a play, such as set and costume design, direction and radio sound effects.
