Reviews / Votes
More from the Faber choral basics series; this set contains the Chicago hits 'And all that jazz', 'Roxie', and 'When you're good to Mama', arranged by Alexander L'Estrange. The notes aren't hard, but these arrangements inevitably demand a huge amount from the performances in terms of characterisation. From the opening indication 'improvised sounds of 1930s Chicago noisy hall' to the line 'If you want her gravy, pepper her ragout', these will only work with the sassiest of students. Don't even think about it unless they are much cooler than you and have a penchant for musicals.Music Teacher, January 2010
