Description
Beginning on Miramar Beach, Florida, in May 2012 and ending in Maui, Hawaii, in July 2014, Twylla Alexander traveled the United States to walk labyrinths and visit the women who created them. Labyrinth Journeys: 50 States, 51 Stories crisscrosses the country, from a prairie labyrinth in North Dakota to an urban labyrinth in Baltimore, on to a labyrinth in the rainforest of southeast Alaska and a flower garden in Wisconsin. Along the way, women's stories speak to the labyrinth's power to calm and to inspire, to strengthen and to clarify-to be whatever the walker needs in her life. Twylla's own journey weaves through the other fifty as she seeks her own meaning on the labyrinth's path. Join them on their journeys, as you explore your own.

Person
Twylla Alexander stepped into her first labyrinth in 2004, unaware that labyrinths would lead her on a life-changing journey almost ten years later. Traveling isn't new to her, having lived with her husband and three children in Arkansas, Alaska, Singapore, Cairo, Moscow and New York City. But a two-year journey to visit labyrinths and their creators, in all fifty states, was a personal pilgrimage. Following retirement as a speech-language pathologist and elementary school teacher, Twylla has focused on her writing. She has blogged for seven years, most recently on New York City Reflections. Her writing has appeared in Lower Manhattan's Downtown Magazine. Labyrinth Journeys: 50 States, 51 Stories is her first published book. She is a Veriditas-certified Labyrinth Facilitator and conducts labyrinth retreats, providing the space and time for women to explore their own journeys. Most mornings, you can find Twylla in her backyard, walking the labyrinth that she and her family created.
