This is a contest. It's you against the animals. Can you win against a shark, an ant, a praying mantis - and the rest? Are you faster? Can you lift better, or jump further? Learn about amazing animal abilities and see how animals and humans compare in this unusual non-fiction book. It's competitive, it's photographic and it's fun!
Blue/Band 4 books offer longer, repeated patterns with sequential events and integrated literary and natural language.
The focus sounds in this book are: /sh/ /th/ /ng/ /ai/ /ee/ /igh/ /oa/ /oo/ /ar/ /ur/ /ow/ /ear/ /air/ /ure/ /er/, and adjacent consonants.
Pages 22 and 23 allow children to re-visit the content of the book, supporting comprehension skills, vocabulary development and recall.
Reading notes within the book provide practical support for reading Big Cat Phonics for Letters and Sounds with children, including a list of all the sounds and words that the book will cover.

Rob lives in Suffolk, quite near a castle. With his dog Tuppy for company, he works from a shed in his garden, and writes every day. Sometimes, Tuppy and Rob walk round the castle, and they think about the next thing that Rob should write about.
I have been working as a freelance Illustrator since 1985, after completing a degree at Kingston, specialising in Illustration. Over the years I've evolved into a fully paid up member of the digital age. After too many disasters with a bottle of ink, probably caused by the cat, I embraced the computer age. My work is heavily influenced by 1950's and 60's cartoons. Most of my images are digitally generated, however I nearly always begin with pencil on paper, creating a 'hand drawn' style.
