Description
Busy Hen has five little chicks to look after while making sure number six - still an egg- stays warm. The last thing she needs is hairy, scary Fox sniffing about. She is frantic when the other birds warn her that her chicks are in danger, but her five little chicks are a lot braver than she realises! From the author of "Hug" and "Duck in the Truck", this rollicking, rhythmic Easter text is rammed with catchy refrains that beg to be shouted out. Children will love the repeated action words and thinking of new ways to act them out.
Reviews / Votes
"With the Easter celebration soon to be with us, this charming heart warming tale will delight children, as it is full of bright artwork telling us about the funny energy fuelled story of six courageous chicks." South Wales Evening Post "Dramatic (and) funny ... it's a winner for children aged 2+" -- Amanda Craig The Times "Jez Alborough gives Chick Lit a good name...The book has a bright, jolly and yet predatory feel. The chicks are intensely yellow and the fox has fearsome green eyes - dreaming of a snappy Easter." -- Kate Kellaway The Guardian "beautiful illustrations and a bouncy rhyming text" -- Sarah Kingsford The Sunday Express "This beautifully illustrated, rhyming tale uses repetition of words and movements that small children will love to mimic." Jez Alborough is the author and illustrator of over 45 books for children. His Eddy and the Bear trilogy (which began with the much loved Where's My Teddy in 1992) has sold nearly four and a half million copies and was made into an award winning animated television series. Duck in the Truck (published in 1999) heralded the start of another bestselling series, this time featuring the irrepressible Duck and his three friends - Frog, Goat and Sheep. There are currently nine books in the Duck series (1.2 million copies sold), including Duck's Key Where Can It Be? which won the Child magazine Best of the Year Award. In 2000 Jez created Hug - a powerful and touching book of only three words about a baby chimpanzee called Bobo who loses his Mom, chosen by Oprah Winfrey for her recommended reading list. Bobo went on to star in two more classics; Tall ( which along with Hug won the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Book Award ) and Yes. The series has sold 1.76 million copies.
