Current and Future Directions in Applied Mathematics

With very tight funding in pure mathematics, it has become increasingly necessary for mathematicians to address the question of what applications their work has in the real world of engineering and science. This text discusses the types of problems that are of current interest and provides some guidelines for mathematicians, both professional and graduate students, as to where their efforts could best be placed.
