Postharvest diseases of pome fruit are typically caused by a wide diversity of fungal pathogens, and the list of confirmed causal agents is still growing. Products with defects are unmarketable leading to increased. Cost of production and occasionally loss of an entire crop. Soil-borne plant pathogenic fungi cause a variety of diseases, such as root rot, stem rot, crown rot, damping-off, and vascular wilts, resulting in significant economic losses in the yield and quality of agricultural and horticultural crops worldwide.
