Reviews / Votes
*4 stars* "...a methodical approach, first describing different areas of biotechnology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, and drug targets, followed by new biological targets.... [D]efines difficult terminology before delving into further detail on the topics...[while] visuals are easy to understand and follow. [A] very good reference and an easy read,...the book offers background information necessary to understand concepts pertinent to biotechnology in drug development, then successfully takes readers through the various drug classes and medications that utilize biotechnology. ...[C]lear and well written,... discusses important topics very thoroughly, [and] provides a good overview and description of each field." -- (c)Doody's Review Service, 2023, Nur Kazzaz, PharmD (Temple University Hospital)More details

Dr. Akash is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Government College University Faisalabad, Pakistan. He got his PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Analysis from Zhejiang University, China. Currently, he is focusing on investigating the effect of endocrine disrupting
chemicals on various molecular and metabolic pathways that are involved in metabolic disorders and their treatment strategies. His research work is cutting-edge and worthy of extension in developing countries, like Pakistan, where it can be most beneficial and cost-effective, especially for diabetic patients. Based on his significant scientific contributions in
the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences, he has been awarded "Research Productivity Awards? from the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, the PAS Gold Medal from the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, and the A.R. Shakoori Gold Medal from the Zoological Society of Pakistan. Dr. Kanwal Rehman is working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacy in The Women University, Multan, Pakistan. Dr. Rehman received her PhD in Pharmacology from Zhejiang University, China. She nurtures
a keen interest in the pathogenesis of metabolic disorders and new therapeutic modalities for its treatment. Currently, she
is focusing on the investigation of the role of pharmacogenomics based upon gene polymorphism on various molecular and
metabolic pathways that are involved in mitogenic disorders and treatment strategies, like natural biogenic compounds against different risk factors of metabolic disorders, including pancreatitis, cardiometabolic disorders, and hormonal imbalance. Dr. Rehman has also been awarded the Research Productivity Award by the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, Pakistan; the PAS Gold Medal from the Pakistan Academy of Sciences; and the A.R. Shakoori Gold Medal from the Zoological Society of Pakistan. Dr. Kanwal Irshad is working as PhD scholar at Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in Government College University Faisalabad, Pakistan. She has done her MPhil from Government College University Faisalabad, Pakistan. She completed her bachelor's (Doctor of Pharmacy) from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. She has done excellent work on exploring the effect of arsenic on hepatoxicity and nephrotoxicity and their amelioration by bioactive compounds. She has published 5 articles and 8 book chapters with international book publishers. She has received HEC PhD indigenous scholarship for completion of PhD by Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. Currently, she is focusing on the investigation of different molecular pathways of arsenic in neurological disorders and their treatment strategies by naturally occurring bioactive compounds. Professor Chen was graduated from Zhejiang Medical University in 1983, got his Ph.D. degree in Zhejiang University and had his post-doctor training in Cornell University USA. Professor Chen now is a professor of Zhejiang University, head of the Precision Medicine & Biopharmaceuticals Laboratory, director of International Center for Precision Medicine, Zhejiang-California International NanoSystems Institute, standing committee member of the Division of Pharmacogenomics of the Chinese Pharmacological Society, committee member of the Division of Biochemical and Biotechnological Drugs of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, honorary chairman of the Biochemical Drugs Professional Committee of Zhejiang Pharmaceutical Association, director of Zhejiang Bioengineering Society, deputy editor-in-chief of Chinese Journal of Biochemical Pharmacy, editor of Chinese Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, international editor of Medical Science Monitor. Dr. Shuqing Chen published 269 articles including Cell, Advanced Materials, Biomaterials, SMALL, Clinical Cancer Research of which 148 are included in SCI/EI. He is the chief editor or editor of 16 books and textbooks. He has presided over five National Natural Science Foundation of China (including two of the?State?Key?Program), two major sub-projects of the National?Major?Scientific?and?Technological?Special?Project?for?"Significant?New?Drugs?Development?, and one key project of the National Key R & D Plan "Precision Medical Research?.
