Description
State Agricultural Universities were structured to produce graduates who became primarily technology agents. In the present era of specialization, it is necessary that the graduates coming out are analytical, technology oriented, sensitive to social and economic issues of farming in India, and capable to meet challenges of new millennium. In order to enhance quality of agricultural education, universities have to develop and strengthen formal degree programmes. There is need to infuse elements of pedagogy in teaching programmes because most faculty members enter the profession without any formal training in instructional sciences. Looking to the developments in educational technology and need for quality teaching in agriculture, the present study was conducted to throw light on the classroom performance of teachers and their training preferences to enhance quality of teaching. The study was conducted in G.B.Pant University of agriculture and Technology at the main campus selecting 537 students, 54 teachers and 33 supervisors selected through stratified random sampling drawing samples proportionate to size.
