China and India

One of the most significant developments of our times has been the rapid economic growth of China. Ever since China began opening up in late 1970s, it has experienced an unprecedented growth averaging 9.7 per cent for the past thirty years. The story of India's growth has been on similar lines, if only starting a little late. The average growth rate for India, since its economic reforms began in 1991, has been about 6 per cent. The book discusses the evolution of a strategy for China and India to pursue a high growth for pursuing energy security, given the dependence of economic growth on energy supplies.
