Description
This book aims at enhancing the durability and service of the raft foundations when using self-compacting concrete (SCC) based on high volumes of fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS). It discusses the shortcomings of traditional cement concrete and demonstrates how strain on cement content, heat of hydration and polished microstructure can reduce cracking and permeability. The book tests workability, strength, durability, and thermal behaviour of M35 grade SCC through experimental studies to establish the best mixes that can be used in monolithic foundations. Based on the long-term structures of the past and the modern temple constructions, it offers a durable, performance-based model of designing very long-lasting raft foundations with long life expectancy and reduced environmental effects.
