Description
This work presents a detailed analysis of designing a Two Stage Gear Reducer using Computer Aided Design (CAD). The gear reducer will be designed in totality with the help of methodology of Total Design. The gears are a main driving device in the modern rotational machine equipments at the present time. In this work, C++ programs have been developed for the designing of a gear reducer's shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys, belts and gear reducer casing. A model of the gear reducer using Pro-E has been developed. The methods of computing both the Bending & Contact stresses on the gear teeth are studied and also the material selection has been done based on them. A study of the Total Design methodology was done and its one of the tool i.e. Failure Mode & Effect Analysis is applied to different parts of gear reducer for their failure analysis. In the end, material of different components of the Gear Reducer were selected with the help of material selection technique i.e. Weighted Property Method using digital logic gates and on the basis of their strength. This book is intended for undergraduate students of Mechanical Engineering Students
