Description
(Instrumental Solo). Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, was born Christmas Day, 1745, on the island of Guadeloupe, then a French colony, in the Caribbean Sea. The son of a wealthy plantation owner and a slave, he rose to unimaginable heights in French society thanks to his excellence in many things including math, literature, and fencing, but most of all, music. He became one of the most popular violinists and composers in France, even hired to provide music lessons for the imperious Marie Antoinette who would become the last queen of France. Bologne's amazing life story came to life in the 2022 film Chevalier. Our matching folio includes original works by Bologne as well as violin solo arrangements of the score by Kris Bowers and featuring "Violin Duel" by Michael Abels. The book also includes a short biography of Bologne.
