Description
First aid can save lives and prevent minor injuries becoming major ones. Schools are premises where students spend most of their time. These institutions need to be safe in the first place, but should also be appropriately equipped to handle unexpected situations. This dissertation was designed to give a general overview of first aid practice in Maltese schools. It is an investigation carried out to assess the knowledge and preparedness of first aid within the Maltese education system including the evaluation of first aid rooms and kits at these premises. It also comprises recommendations for further studies and a list of essential first aid material to be kept within these education institutions. The study can be of help to education personnel and government officials who are willing or trying to generate guidelines and take actions to reduce accident rates and near misses in their schools
