CHAPTER ONE
FIGHT THE SPIRIT OF LAZINESS AND TAKE OVER
"Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth." Proverbs 10:4
"A sluggard's appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied." Proverbs 13:4
"Through laziness, the rafters sag; because of idle hands, the house leaks" Ecclesiastes 10:18
"A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man." Proverbs 6:10-11
In this world, nothing is truly free; every reward is the result of effort, discipline, and sacrifice. No pain, no gain. No risk, no reward. No loyalty, no love. No trust, no friendship. No discipline, no result. No sacrifice, no opportunity. The saying "no pain, no gain" is a reality. Whether you're chasing success, love, or growth, there's always a price to pay. You can't expect results without putting in the work. There's no reward without taking a risk, no deep friendship without trust, and no real love without loyalty. Opportunities don't fall into your lap without sacrifices made behind the scenes. The world doesn't owe anyone anything, and waiting for success while doing nothing only guarantees one thing: stagnation.
That's why it's so important to fight the spirit of laziness. Laziness is the quiet thief of potential; it promises comfort but delivers regret. It keeps you stuck while others move forward. Discipline is what separates those who dream from those who achieve. If you want results, you must act, even when it's hard. If you want opportunity, you must be willing to give something up. Growth demands discomfort, and success demands effort. The sooner we accept that nothing comes easy, the sooner we'll start building the life we want, one step, one sacrifice and one disciplined choice at a time.
To everyone either a man or woman laziness as a case study always lead to poverty even if you are anointed. Laziness will always lead to poverty. In the call of God there are preachers who are lazy; always resting for doing nothing, always resting by sleeping. There are business people who are lazy. They open shop at 11a.m. and closes by 5 pm for fellowship. There is nothing wrong with the fellowship but you are going to be poor because you are not taking your work serious. They are the type customers come and knock to wake them from sleep. They are lackadaisical to work, with poor memory and at times harsh to people. They often forget, whether you serve God or serve Satan; one thing they don't welcome or tolerate is laziness. Whether you serve God or Satan what they hate is laziness. In case you run from God to serve Satan you will still work hard. One thing I know Satan and God agree on is that lazy people don't have future. Whether you work for dark kingdom you will still not be promoted. You must not be lazy even your General Overseer pour oil on your head. You must work.
Brethren work, I say again, work! There is no substitute for diligent effort in the pursuit of success. While prayer and fasting are vital for spiritual growth, they are not replacements for the discipline of labor. Waking up late, lounging in comfort, and relying on divine favor alone will not bring prosperity. The anointing on your head is not a license for idleness; it is a call to action, a push toward fulfilling your purpose through consistent effort. Work is the seed that produces the harvest, and even with divine favor, that seed must be planted and nurtured. Why should you be snoring on bed at 8:00 am? No matter the anointing on your head, work. No matter the number of days you fast and pray, work. Work is the cornerstone to progress. Work has power to open closed doors if you are connected to helpers. Don't claim your father left inheritance behind or will leave some behind for you, work and be noted for hard work.
Do not be deceived by the illusion of inherited wealth or the promises of what may be passed down to you. Inheritance without personal discipline quickly evaporates. Instead, be known for your commitment to hard work, your integrity in labor, and your willingness to push through resistance. Look at the birds of the sky; they don't sit idle, waiting for food to fall into their beaks. They rise early, flap their wings, and search diligently for sustenance. Even birds, with their light frames and freedom of flight, understand that survival depends on movement. The lazy bird that refuses to fly, to search, to work, soon grows weak and dies. Nature itself teaches us that life rewards activity, not sloth. If creatures without hands or reason can understand this, what excuse does a human have?
Doors open more readily to those who are already moving. Helpers and destiny connectors are drawn to those who show responsibility and diligence. Work dignifies a person, shapes character and builds a legacy that outlives any material inheritance. So rise, and work while it is day! Consider the ants, tiny as they are. They labor with focus and discipline, building homes, storing food and preparing for seasons ahead. They don't wait for someone to feed them, they work before they eat. Some even build what could be called "mansions" underground through sheer persistence. If ants, without wisdom or strength like ours, can achieve such organization and success, what then is holding you back? You have strength, mind, and opportunity what you need now is action. Work and you will see results.
Learn from those who know what they are doing. Pray, prepare and go find something to do. By all means fight laziness. Stop carrying certificate around claiming you are a graduate. Thank God for you, but this is just the beginning you still have a long way to go and many rivers to cross. "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline." 2 Timothy 1:7. God has already placed in you the spirit of self-discipline, not laziness. You have the inner strength to take action and push forward.
Be gainfully employed. If a job doesn't come, make Zobo drink or other local non-alcoholic drinks, make doughnut, don't be idle. Lay hands on what will promote you. If one door closes, cry for a few minute. Don't be sober and be carried away, rather force another door open. This is the mindset of champions. Why give flimsy excuses when doors are waiting for you to open them. There is always honey in the rock. Add wisdom to your life. Think deep, study your environment to know what is lacking there and fill the vacuums to bring wealth that promotes purse. The book of Proverbs 3:5-6, say "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Losing a job or finding it difficult to get one is no news. It spread across the globe. If you study a course that is not marketable switch to other things that will fetch money in as much it is legal. Don't go into criminal activities that won't pay you. There is no short cut to glory. This is the reason people who claim God calls them are questioned very well before they go into it because some people believe if they search for job and couldn't find one, they resort to "God calls me" and go to a missionary school to be a pastor. To be a Pastor, Apostle, Evangelist or any name it is called, you will pay some sacrifice. The work is not for lazy people. Imagine you don't know me, but you fall in love of my books but I know the sacrifice I pay to write one book, not to mention over a hundred books. It is not easy, but you must make it easy, or else, you won't fulfill the calling.
Spirit of laziness I curse you out of the life of this one reading this book, in Jesus name. Laziness is not just a weakness; it is a destructive force that silently eats away potentials, time and purpose. It causes a man to lose instead of build, to scatter instead of gather, to waste instead of restore. Many destinies have been delayed, even destroyed, because of this deadly spirit. If you desire to rise, you must confront and reject every trace of laziness in your life. "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.'" Isaiah 30:21
Laziness shouldn't be in your future, and it should not walk with those who are serious about greatness. Put the garment of failure aside, strip it off and if possible, burn it to ashes so it never returns. That mindset of defeat loaded with excuses, that is rooted in past disappointments must be destroyed. The book of Deuteronomy 8:18 say, "But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth..." You already carry the ability to create, build, and grow, given by God himself. Don't let it sit dormant. Use it and refuse to die average. Failure is not who you are; it's only something you passed through. Don't wear it like a uniform. It's time to break free from that cycle and step into your true identity. Every day you wake up is another chance to rewrite your story. Let the fire of purpose consume every trace of shame, doubt and fear. You are not your mistakes; you are your potential waiting to be activated.
Have wisdom, you must learn to labor before expecting a harvest. "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." James 1:5. There is a time to sow and a time to reap, and the two are not interchangeable. If you neglect the season of hard work, you forfeit the season of reward. That's why it's important to learn something, develop a skill, gain knowledge and train your hands to produce. The Lord is with you don't doubt him....
