Do you ever wonder what types of things run through the minds of teenagers? If so, you're in luck. Jeff Necessary cordially invites you to be a fly on the wall of his classroom. A 29 year teaching veteran, Jeff has recorded a variety of unique comments and questions put forth by his thousands of students. Are you interested in politics? History? Geography? Medicine? The criminal justice system? Relationships? Those topics, plus many more, will take on completely new meanings for you. Pack your lunch, and gather your school supplies. School is in session.
Jeff Necessary was born and raised in rural southwest Virginia. His inspiration to become an educator was his dad, Bob, who was a college professor for nearly 40 years. Jeff observed numerous instances in which his dad would combine humor with education. On many occasions, Jeff recalls his dad would say, "When it gets to the point I'm not enjoying myself, and my students aren't enjoying learning, I'm done." Jeff most definitely has fun in class, as do his students. Many students over the years have taken his class multiple times....... not because they failed the class. Most explain it by saying they always learn new things and they always enjoy themselves.
These days, Jeff lives in Murrells Inlet, SC. Asked if he ever plans to leave the laid-back lifestyle of the South Carolina low country, Jeff stated, "Well, I was taught to never say never, but I can't imagine leaving my current situation. I'm in a fantastic school. I work for and with some of the best people I've ever known. The weather is great, the food is great, and I have dozens of golf courses just minutes from my home. At least for now, I'm right where I want to be."
