In the heart of the 21st century, I began to notice something deeply troubling - not just around me, but within me, within people I knew, and in the collective rhythm of our fast-paced world. We were all chasing something - success, comfort, recognition, convenience - yet losing something far more precious in return: peace, balance, and genuine happiness. Every day seemed busier than the last, every conversation more superficial, and every moment increasingly consumed by screens, notifications, and stress. As I looked around, I saw brilliant minds feeling lost, healthy bodies turning sluggish, and joyful hearts slowly fading under invisible pressures. That observation, that silent cry of humanity, became the seed for this book - "How Am I Destroying Myself in the 21st Century."
My motivation to write this book comes from a simple, yet powerful desire: to help every person in this world stay away from stress and live a truly happy life. I have seen how even the most intelligent and successful individuals can fall into the trap of self-destruction - not through reckless choices, but through the daily patterns we unknowingly adopt. The endless scrolling on smartphones, the constant comparison on social media, the late-night work routines, the processed food we call convenience - all these have quietly eroded our mental peace and physical health. We have surrounded ourselves with noise and disconnected from the silence within. I wanted to write something that holds up a mirror to this modern chaos - not to criticize or condemn, but to awaken awareness and inspire transformation.
This book is not born from theory or research alone - it comes from observation, experience, and reflection. I have personally witnessed the destructive influence of overwork, digital addiction, and anxiety on the human spirit. I have seen how our search for validation online replaces real self-worth, and how chasing material comfort often distances us from emotional peace. I realized that people today are not necessarily unhappy because they lack success - they are unhappy because they have lost connection with themselves. The mind has become restless, the body fatigued, and the heart numb. I wanted to create a work that helps readers recognize these patterns, understand their impact, and most importantly, find ways to overcome them.
Ultimately, my purpose in writing this book is deeply human - I want to see people smile again, not because they achieved something, but because they finally feel free inside. I want stress to stop being the normal language of our times. I want people to breathe deeply, sleep peacefully, eat mindfully, love genuinely, and wake up each day with gratitude instead of anxiety. We all deserve a life that is not just productive, but meaningful. We all deserve to live in harmony with ourselves, others, and the world around us.
If even one reader finishes this book and feels inspired to put down their phone, take a walk in nature, hug their loved ones, or simply sit in silence without restlessness - then I will consider this work a success. Because true success, as I have learned, is not measured by wealth or fame, but by how peaceful your heart feels when the world around you is loud.
