This book is the first one that presents both the new elaborated method of the flow measurement, named by the author the "Flow Measurement Based on Reaction Force", including its specific "reaction measurement system", which ensures its practical implementation, and the new basic types of flowmeters, configured according to it, named "reaction flowmeters". These achievements were the result of the first implementation, in the last two years, of the Unitary Synthesis and Design Method of Flowmeters (European Patent EN the 3364159, granted in 2020).

Due to its universality and flexibility, the "Flow Measurement Based on Reaction Force" keeps the same configuration of the reaction measurement system for the design of any new basic types of reaction flowmeters.

The book presents the reaction flowmeters by following the logical sequence of their structural (implicitly functioning) evolution, which rendered the logical systematic way followed for their configuration. The book details successively (main analytical, constructive, and functional features) the individual (single) reaction flowmeters, configured both without and with moving parts, respectively, the specific connections of two single reaction flowmeters, named "extended reaction flowmeters" and the bypass type reaction flowmeters. All of these flowmeters can be used for both liquids and gases.

Presenting the practical results and using the knowledge of the unitary bases of the flowmeters, identified by the previous book, Unitary Analysis, Synthesis, and Classification of Flow Meters (2018), this new publication is written for all specialists in the field of flow measurement and instrumentation, and especially for flowmeters manufacturers and R&D specialists, in addition to the teaching staff and students at such specialized, technical, and high-level universities.

The book is also an efficient tool for predictable design of new types of reaction flowmeters, by following the logical steps (questions) already taken in the configuration of the reaction flowmeters presented, and by diversifying with new answers given to them.

Horia Mihai Motit is the founding President of the Romanian Technical Standardization Committee for Flow Measurement (1990 - 2006); the founding President of A.A.I.R. -Control and Instrumentation Association of Romania (1990 - present). He received the distinguinshed awards for creativity: the National Prize for Patented Inventions (2nd place) in 1985, the National Prize for Patented Inventions (1st place) in 1987. He has achieved a significant number of patented inventions in the field of new types of industrial flowmeters (then produced in a large number), including the world premiere of the "method for the determination of convertion curves of flow scales of gas variable area flowmeters, by using only water".

Selective Bibliography
"The work presented in this book is comprehensive and provides a new standpoint towards the measuring of fluid flows, whose importance does not need to be recalled. What is more interesting is that, starting from an analysis of the established principles and methods, Prof. Motit could reach to the proposal of a novel way to face the problem of flow measurement; not only this, but based on this approach, he could design new flow meters which were tested with interesting results. Considering all of this, the original perspective proposed by Prof. Motit should be kept in mind by students and researchers in the field, and therefore the usefulness of this book, which summarizes his most recent findings, is beyond any doubt."
-SPAZZINI Pier Giorgio, Instituto Nationale di Ricerca Metrologica, Torino

"A thorough understanding of concepts related to flow measurement greatly facilitates the subsequent discussion of flowmeter technologies. It appears that Prof. Motit has taken this approach further by analytically dissecting flowmeter designs into their structural elements. Prototypes were built where agreement between their theoretical and actual performance instilled confidence that this technique can reasonably predict the effects of flowmeter design changes. This can significantly reduce the number of design prototypes and enable the reader to design flowmeters faster, better and in a more cost-effective manner. This unique methodology can be applied to existing flowmeter designs as well as aid in establishing new flowmeter structures that can lead to new flowmeter designs such as the reaction flowmeters presented in this book."
-David W Spitzer, Spitzer and Boyes,LLC

"The method based on reaction force and the reaction flowmeters elaborated by author are an innovative approach that brings to this field a new approach to measurement which can be adopted in a wide range of infrastructures, thus being relevant for stakeholders. The book presented by the Author represent novel developments of reaction force method for flow measurement, based on his large experience in the field and expertise related with the knowledge of the nature and behaviour of flow phenomena, providing an interesting analysis of the structural conditions of the flowmeters including different technical solutions and its classification. It's worthwhile to mention that the Authors European Patent 3346159 "Computer-implemented method for synthesis and design of flowmeters" is also a major contribution to the understanding of the complex interpretation provided by the reaction measurement approach and, therefore, should be considered as a promising method to be applied.
This book provides an important contribution to develop and to disseminate new theoretical and experimental achievements applied to this field."
