The body of an unidentified woman is discovered along a trail, her infant child next to her, alive and now alone in the world. As the child grows it, becomes clear she has exceptional intelligence, but she suffers from somnambulism - sleepwalking.
The child's episodes become progressively more traumatic until she is eventually committed to a mental health institute, where she attracts the attentions of others.
