The sea has always intrigued mankind.
Becalmed or angry, it is always majestic and speaks of nature's power, her ability to conjure our imaginations to action and to weave stories, myths and legends.
Over the millennia our boats and ships have travelled seas and oceans in search of trade, of territory and to exchange and more usually, impose cultures on what we find. But the journey across the endless tracts of water continuously attracts the attentions of writers.
Our authors here, with the exceptions of one or two, may not be especially well-known but the quality of their writing in these short stories vividly captures man's yearning to be there on the briny water.
