This book has been written to satisfy the needs of students studying environmental issues. It seeks to provide a readable text covering the full range of topics under the environmental law umbrella - pollution control, species protection, and rights of access to the countryside amongst others, as well as discussion of the issues. In part one the student is introduced to the key concepts and the historical development of environmental law. Part two discusses planning law, agricultural policy, transport, energy, habitat protection and how integrated control over land use can be achieved. Part three covers legislation which protects native wildlife and affects fish conservation, including the EC Common Fisheries Policy. International treaties and trade in endangered species is also discussed. Part four discusses the philosophy behind the legislation for pollution control, and reviews the current legislation in detail, and part five examines future trends.
