The parallels of political, ideological and economic developments of Germany and Japan are examined from a Japanese perspective and using Japanese sources. The author compares and links these developments during one of the most crucial periods in the history of both countries. He focuses on important aspects such as the impact of the Depression on both countries, Germany's political and culutral influence on Japan's modernization, Japan's and Germany's aggression against their neighbours, the rapprochement of both countries during the First World War and the effects of its outcome.
