The use of conducting polymers for the anticorrosion protection of metals has attracted great interest during the last 30 years. The design and development of conducting polymers-based coating systems with commercial viability is expected to be advanced by applying nanotechnology and has received substantial attention recently. This book begins with corrosion fundamentals and ends with an emphasis on developments made in conducting polymer science and technology using nanotechnology. Additionally, it gives a detailed account of experimental methods of corrosion testing.

Pravin P. Deshpande obtained his PhD in metallurgical engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, and joined the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science, College of Engineering Pune (COEP),India in January 2008.Since then, he has completed a number of research projects sponsored by University Grants Commission, New Delhi; Indian Space Research Organization, Bangalore; All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi; Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi; and University of Pune. He has authored many refereed publications, and is an active member of a study group on the metallurgical heritage of India, Indian National Academy of Engineering, New Delhi,India. Dimitra Sazou earned a PhD in chemistry and is a current professor of physical chemistry at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Dr. Sazou was a visiting researcher/professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Houston, and the Department of Physical Sciences, University of Cyprus. Her research interests include corrosion-passivation of metals and their protection by using intrinsically conducting polymers, and focuses on understanding the physico-electrochemical processes leading to uniform and localized corrosion via the analysis of the nonlinear behavior of metal electro dissolution-passivation reactions. She has more than 25 years of experience on the topic and has authored many refereed publications.
