Air Pollution Control in the European Community:Implementation of the EC Directives in the Twelve Member States

This work examines the implementation of the EC air pollution control directives in the 12 member states of the European Community. It describes the way in which the directives have been implemented and the broader policy and administrative context of that process. Adopting a systematic approach, the Directives on Air Quality, Fuel, Vehicle Emissions and Industrial Plant are examined: compliance dates, purpose, summary of contents and implementation, formal compliance, and implementation in practice. This thoroughly edited study, updated to 1991, carefully monitors the variety of circumstances, and intricacies of legislative machinery within the member states, and is supplemented with valuable diagrams and tabular information. The original study was carried out for the European Commission by the Institute for European Environmental Policy.
